Dedication at Church and Brett's First Birthday!

My parent's Steve and Bonnie and Josh's mom Anne and step dad Mahlon all came in town for Brett's big weekend. We went to the zoo and San Diego County Fair on his actual birthday, which was Friday the 26th. Then, his party was on Sat. This picture above is from the church we've been going to, where Brett got dedicated on Sunday the 28th. He was great up on stage and just stared at the crowd! It was a special day having our family there to celebrate with us.
What a beautiful day it was out on Coronado Island. Josh and I could not have pulled together everything that was needed for the party without the helping hands of our family. We all pitched in to pack up the goodies, decorations, food/drinks/cake, "punch with a punch" and tables to set up for Brett's First Birthday party. It was awesome to have so many great friends come out with their families to cheer on Brett's first year celebration! This picture above is right after ~60 people sang "happy birthday" in a semi-circle with him in the center. When we all clapped - he joined in and clapped too! It was a hoot!

Brett had his own 4" cake that he delved into! He nearly finished half of it before I had to slide it away from him. He is used to sucking his two fingers and it was really bothering him on why he couldn't get that icing off his fingers! It was a work in progress....he really milked his time in the spotlight with plenty of spectators laughing "with" him :)

Gotta love that blue icing! He was just so mesmerized by it and wondering why it was EVERYWHERE on his face/hands!

My good friend Susan was so great to help me out with the tedious process of getting all the icing off from the nooks and crevaces. The bib that I got Brett for his big day had a removable candle that was the washcloth for getting all the messy icing! The funny things that first time mom's buy~!
